BOBBY THOMAS JR.

Thirty years ago, Bobby Thomas Jr. was in a small Fort Lauderdale nightclub, sitting in with a virtually unknown local band when a more recognizable resident named Jaco Pastorius walked into the bar. During the band's first break, Jaco approached Bobby saying he wanted to invite him into a new band he himself had just joined called Weather Report.

As unusual as it sounded, Jaco indeed introduced Bobby to band leader Joe Zawinul the next day, and after sitting in with Weather Report for a Saturday afternoon, Zawinul invited him to join the band on its ongoing tour. Three days later Bobby was in Australia, now a full member in the legendary fusion band.
